BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill and injured children and provides developmental and rehabilitation services throughout BC. BCCH also operates specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research in partnership with the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and the University of British Columbia.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a state-of-the-art 28-bed unit within the Teck Acute Care Centre, including an active cardiac program with ECMO and neurosurgical intensive care, serving over 1200 admissions annually. As a critical care leader, your primary responsibility will be direct clinical care of critically ill children in PICU and supporting their families. Reporting to the Medical Director and Division Head, you will leverage your clinical experience to provide exemplary care and be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, offering advanced support including Extra-Corporeal Life Support for children with complex conditions such as congenital heart disease and organ transplants.

You will also provide outreach critical care advice within the Emergency Department, inpatient wards, and facilitate inter-hospital transfers in collaboration with our provincial transport system. Experience in transport medicine is essential for this role.

The successful candidate will promote teamwork and collaboration within the critical care team, uphold a respectful workplace policy, and may mentor students, residents, and other healthcare professionals in the ICU.

Qualifications include a medical degree from an LCME-accredited school, current licensure in British Columbia, at least six months of Pediatric ICU experience, and experience in transport medicine. Additional subspecialty training or certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Anesthesia, or Pediatric Emergency Medicine is advantageous.
