Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Recreation Therapist I for the Stollery Child Life Program to deliver developmentally appropriate therapeutic play in acute pediatric care. You will provide group and individual interventions, working with a multidisciplinary team in indoor and outdoor play spaces to support coping and emotional well-being during hospitalization.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions; four seasons.
• Experience working with pediatric patients ages 0-17 years; 1 year as a recreation therapist or related role.
• Familiar with developing and implementing recreation therapy programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide group programming and one-on-one therapeutic interventions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure patient- and family-centered care.
• Assess, treat, educate and monitor clients’ progress within clinical and outdoor play spaces.
• Participate in patient rounds, family conferences and hospital initiatives.
