Job summary

Alberta Health Services’ Stollery Children’s Hospital is seeking an Exercise Specialist to lead pediatric preventive care initiatives and develop a medically supervised Exercise Medicine Program for children with cardiac conditions.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team to deliver exercise assessment, training, rehabilitation, risk factor identification and self-management services, while delivering patient- and family-centred education and care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or equivalent exercise science degree.
• Active membership with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology and ACSM or CSEP certification within 1 year.
• Minimum two years in a healthcare setting, including one year in Cardiac Rehabilitation.
• Knowledge of pediatric learning theory and exercise program development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exercise assessment, training, rehabilitation and risk factor identification.
• Provide self-management services for individuals or groups within a portfolio.
• Educate patients and families and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
