Job summary

CHEO in Ottawa seeks a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with advanced practice training to manage pain modalities and perioperative care for children and youth. The NP will work autonomously and with physicians to optimize outcomes and coordinate education tools for patients and families.

Responsibilities include physical assessments, interpreting labs, developing pathways, and leading initiatives to reduce length of stay. Cross-cover for NPs in perioperative services is included.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Nursing with current RN(EC) registration in Ontario.
• 3–5 years of related clinical nursing experience.
• Experience with case management and data collection.
• Teaching experience and professional association membership preferred.
• Pediatric subspecialty knowledge and pharmacology basics preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Bilingual French/English preferred; language assessment may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous and collaborative pediatric pain management care.
• Assess patients, interpret results, and implement education tools.
• Develop clinical pathways and update policies based on evidence.
• Coordinate perioperative and repatriation efforts to reduce length of stay.
• Cross-cover NPs in Perioperative Services as needed.
