Miller Waste Systems is seeking a Scale Operator at our Whitby, ON site. You will weigh inbound and outbound vehicles, record weights precisely, and assist customers with service at the scale.

This permanent part-time role starts immediately and requires strong accuracy, good customer service, and basic office software skills. Responsibilities include cash handling, ticket reconciliation, and helping with related clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Must follow Miller Waste safety protocols and be familiar with OHSA.
• Experience handling cash, debit and card transactions; retail experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and PC-based systems; strong keyboarding skills.
• Willing to fill in for vacations or sick calls.

Responsabilités

• Weigh vehicles IN and OUT at a reasonable pace to ensure ticket and cash accuracy.
• Perform visual inspections of loads at scale for contamination; direct traffic to drop-off locations.
• Handle cash, debit and credit card transactions; retail experience preferred.
• Review tickets and receipts; answer telephone inquiries and take orders.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with company procedures.
• Be familiar with and apply safety protocols as required.

Location: 2000 Wentworth Street, Whitby, Ontario

Position Type: Permanent Part-Time

Reporting To: Site Supervisor

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: Monday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday, 7:45am to 4:00pm

Compensation: $23.06 per hour

Summary

A Scale Operator is responsible for weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles, recording weights accurately, and ensuring all materials are properly documented. They act as the first point of contact for drivers and customers, providing excellent customer service while maintaining accurate records and compliance with company procedures

Responsibilities

• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act
• The weighing of vehicles IN and OUT at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy of tickets and cash transactions
• You will perform visual inspections of loads at scale (only) for contamination purposes as well as direct traffic to proper drop off locations
• You will be required to do Cash, Debit and credit card transactions, retail experience preferred
• You will review all tickets, cash register and global payments receipts to ensure they are correct and assist with paperwork as required, Answer telephone enquiries, take orders and direct calls
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Knowledge of and practical skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), strong PC based systems knowledge; with excellent keyboarding skills
• You will be required to fill in for any vacations or sick calls
