This Position reports to: Production Manager.

As a Production Supervisor, you will report to the Head of Production & Maintenance and ensure continuous and efficient production operations in accordance with plans, procedures, and quality and safety standards and policies. You will manage resources to achieve objectives.

This position contributes to the Electrification – Smart Buildings division of ABB Canada and is based in Dorval.

The work model is 100% on-site at our Dorval plant.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of approximately 40 employees.
  • Ensure the daily planning of activities in the emergency lighting manufacturing sector, aligning customer needs with production capacity.
  • Optimize resource utilization and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Identify failures in the PCB manufacturing process, coordinate their resolution, and ensure the rapid implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to equipment and technical installations.
  • Develop and support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) aimed at reducing waste and improving operational efficiency.
  • Perform sound human resources management, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, compensation, management of disciplinary files, and vacation planning.
  • Ensure workforce skill development for increased flexibility.
  • Deliver targeted and effective communication as needed, and promote an environment of openness and inclusiveness. Coach and motivate team leaders and employees, foster a participative work environment, and support change management.
  • Work closely with various departments and services, as required.

Requirements
  • D.E.C. or a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or equivalent.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience (20+ employees).
  • Knowledge of and autonomy with computer software (Word, Excel, integrated systems such as AS400 or SAP).
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to influence the team.
  • Self-sufficient, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Ability to manage and resolve emergency situations and make quick decisions.
  • Ability to manage change and act as a change agent.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with various members of the organization.
  • French/English bilingualism. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside of Quebec.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts, an asset.
  • Knowledge in electronics or PCB assembly (a strong asset).
