About the role

This full-time hybrid position requires two days per week at the office. The location will be either Downtown Vancouver, Surrey, or our Toronto facility (305 Milner Ave #703), depending on the candidate's proximity.

As a Payroll Specialist, reporting to the North America Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for tasks across Canada and the United States, including but not limited to:

  • Running payroll for 160 employees in Canada and supporting payroll tasks for a total of 950 employees in the US.
  • Reviewing new hire setups, employee changes, and voluntary deductions prior to payroll processing.
  • Preparing and processing hourly and salaried bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Setting up state withholding and unemployment tax accounts.
  • Reviewing and setting up new garnishments.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial laws and regulations (CRA, CPP, EI, etc.).
  • Calculating and administering employee deductions, vacations, and stationary holiday pay.
  • Preparing and filing T4, ROE, and other payroll-related tax forms.
  • Responding to unemployment claims.
  • Calculating new hire pay, termination pay, and any required adjustments to normal pay.
  • Processing stops, payments, or adjustments of payroll.
  • Calculating bonuses as requested.
  • Ensuring accuracy in computing, withholding, and deductions.
  • Performing month-end reporting.
  • Performing other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working with payrolls exceeding 300 employees, including multi-state payrolls.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • 3-5 years of payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Canada payroll processing.
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency in UKG Payroll Software (preferred).
  • FPC or CPP certification (preferred).

Successful applicants must be authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

The annual salary range for BC residents is $75,000 CAD - $82,000 CAD. The starting salary will be determined based on education, experience, and internal equity considerations.
