Job summary

A leading company in Halifax is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll across multiple employee groups. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll processes while supporting the development of standardized practices. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of experience in payroll management within a multi-entity environment.

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience processing full-cycle Canadian payroll in a multi-entity environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple payrolls concurrently.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial payroll compliance requirements.

Job description

Our client a privately held and established organization operating as part of a diversified group of companies is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their collaborative team in Halifax . In this permanent role the successful candidate will be responsible for managing full-cycle payroll across multiple employee groups ensuring accuracy compliance and timely processing.

Key Responsibilities for the Job :

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for multiple business units
  • Manage complex pay structures across groups including variations in compensation benefits and deductions
  • Validate and input timesheets bonuses commissions vacation pay and other earnings
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation including income tax CPP EI and employment standards
  • Prepare and file year-end documentation including T4s T4As ROEs etc.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger
  • Manage and respond to inquiries from employees
  • Support the development and enhancement of standardized payroll practices
  • Keep informed about changes in payroll legislation

Experience & Attributes for Success :

  • 3 years experience processing full-cycle Canadian payroll in a multi-entity / shared services environment
  • Proficient in ADP systems with demonstrated ability to manage multiple payrolls concurrently
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial payroll compliance requirements
  • Detail-oriented organized and confident dealing with sensitive payroll information
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
