Under limited supervision, the payroll specialist plays a critical role in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll process that complies with applicable regulations. This includes payroll processing, record keeping, reconciliation, compliance, and analysis activities. The role involves responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll, supporting and maintaining the payroll system, and providing payroll expertise on departmental and cross-functional projects.

Principle Duties

  • Import data integrations between Workday and the payroll system. Review and import time data. Verify accuracy and pay implications of imported data.
  • Enter direct deposit changes.
  • Calculate and enter long-term incentive compensation (stock payroll data), benefits data, and other items from departments.
  • Verify new hires, terminations, and additional information imported into the payroll system. Process first and final paychecks for new hires and terminations accurately.
  • Assist in entering top-up payments for employees on leave of absence.
  • Process bonuses, tuition reimbursements, industry awards, and other one-time payments.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee payroll inquiries.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and funding requests.
  • Assist with special projects, audits, year-end processes, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Understand and implement payroll laws within Canada and Mexico.
  • Support the advancement of payroll processes to align with the Global Payroll Policy.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in payroll processing.
  • Experience with payroll systems (Desjardins preferred) and Workday HCM.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations in Canada and Mexico.
  • Bilingual in English and French preferred.

Compensation Range:

$68,200.00 - $85,250.00 annually

Base pay varies based on knowledge, skills, experience, and location. RGA offers an annual bonus plan, and some roles are eligible for long-term equity incentives. We also provide comprehensive health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
