Job summary

Tridel is seeking a Payroll Specialist to administer accurate, efficient payroll for 1,000+ employees across the Tridel Group. This role ensures compliance with Canadian payroll laws, handles full cycle payroll, and maintains confidential records in a hybrid in-office environment.

You will coordinate data from multiple sources, audit processing, and support reporting, CRA, EHT and WSIB balances, while identifying process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in full cycle payroll processing including time and attendance tracking.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law, payroll legislation and accounting principles.
  • Certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner with Canadian Payroll Association.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve issues.
  • Hands-on approach to daily tasks with confidential data handling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate weekly, biweekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll processing for 1,000+ employees using Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Review data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and policies.
  • Process data entry changes and verify information is complete and accurate.
  • Troubleshoot time and attendance including overtime and vacation.
  • Audit payroll processing and ensure all payrolls are processed on schedule.
  • Coordinate processing for new hires and terminations; prepare reports and invoices.
  • Assist with CRA, EHT and WSIB monthly balancing and reporting.
  • Maintain payroll SOPs and confidential personnel files; suggest process improvements.
  • Assist with record keeping and department maintenance.

The Payroll Specialist administers accurate, efficient, and timely payroll for employees across the Tridel Group of Companies. This role plays a key role in ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative procedures related to payroll processing, maintaining accuracy in payroll calculations, and promptly addressing any employee inquiries or issues.

A Glimpse of Your Daily Activities
  • Coordinate weekly, biweekly, monthly, and quarterly full cycle payroll processing using Ceridian Dayforce for 1,000+ employees
  • Review and verify data from a variety of sources to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and statutory requirements, employment agreements, payroll policies and procedures.
  • Process data entry changes and verify information is complete and accurate.
  • Troubleshoot time and attendance including overtime, vacation etc.
  • Validate deductions and adjustments are correctly calculated.
  • Audit payroll processing.
  • Ensure all payrolls are processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate processing all new hires and terminations.
  • Prepare invoices and reports in a timely manner following payroll processing deadlines.
  • Address and resolve employee complaints relating to their payroll.
  • Assist with reporting, file achieves, record keeping, and overall department maintenance and accuracy.
  • Assist with monthly balance of CRA, EHT and WSIB.
  • Maintain personnel files with appropriate payroll forms while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Maintain payroll standard operating procedure manuals.
  • Recommend efficiency improvements and revisions to existing procedures and processes.
The Architect of Your Success
  • Certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner with the Canadian Payroll Association.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business or Finance with a focus on Payroll.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in full cycle payroll processing including time and attendance tracking.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law, payroll legislation and accounting principles.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Hands on approach to daily tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
