Job summary

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is seeking a temporary, full-time Manager, Payroll to lead the payroll function, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and oversee year-end reporting in line with tax and regulatory requirements. The role collaborates across the Institute, supports the Controller, and drives continuous process improvements.

The successful candidate will have a professional accounting designation, a relevant degree, and CPM/PCP certifications with at least six years’

Qualifications

• Professional accounting designation plus a relevant degree; CPM and/or PCP certification preferred.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in payroll management at progressive levels.
• Strong knowledge of payroll concepts, legislation, and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller in developing department strategies and plans.
• Manage the Institute’s payroll function, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee year-end reporting including T4s/T4As and related remittances.
• Liaise with management and staff on payroll matters and provide guidance.
• Lead and develop reporting staff and ensure compliance with policies.
