Job description

We are seeking a motivated Payroll Lead to drive a dynamic team of four, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. Join us in leading and mentoring the team to achieve success and uphold exceptional standards in payroll operations.

As the Payroll Team Lead you will guide a team of payroll administrators on payroll processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payments of all remittances. In this role you will provide guidance to the payroll team, coordinate payroll reconciliations, audit, and tax filings, while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and provincial regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of both US and Canadian payroll from start to finish
  • Adhere to federal, state, provincial, local tax laws, wage laws, and relevant regulations in the U.S. and Canada
  • Support the team by addressing payroll processing issues and recommending process improvements
  • Review and confirm payroll data to ensure accuracy in employee compensation
  • Oversee task allocation, ensuring the efficient completion of all payroll duties
  • Track team productivity, identify areas for improvement, and promote ongoing training and development
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor to set and assess performance goals for direct reports
  • Conduct payroll audits, support reconciliations, and perform variance analysis to ensure accuracy and reduce risks for compliance and finance teams
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of full cycle payroll, in a complex organizational environment
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a payroll supervisor/lead position
  • PCP or PLP Certification with the National Payroll Institute
  • Experience in payroll reporting, reconciliation and Year-End Processing and tax filings
  • Ensures compliance with all legislative authorities
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Customer service-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Working knowledge of Microsoft office products including Excel
  • Proficiency with ERP accounting systems (JD Edwards would be an asset)
  • A team player with the ability to work independently
Work Conditions:
  • This is a hybrid role, working from home and attending the office minimum once per week or as business needs require
