The Role :

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Payroll & HR Specialist will be primarily responsible for managing and processing the company’s Canadian payroll, administering the benefits plan, and equity administration. This role will also have the opportunity to expand into other areas of HR by providing HR administrative support in areas.

The ideal candidate will be a senior level payroll professional with strong experience in Canadian payroll and equity administration.

  • This role has the option to be a fulltime or a part-time role (at approximately 3-4 days per week).

Key Responsibilities :

Payroll :

  • Lead processing of Canadian payroll for approximately 80 employees.
  • Also manage all other payroll related responsibilities including : preparation of T4s, calculating and reconciling WorkSafe BC and EHT remittances, and preparing ROEs.
  • Produce accurate and timely payroll reports, including payroll budgets, forecasts, and accrual reports.
  • Conduct payroll and benefits orientations for new hires.
  • Work with internal and external auditors and respond to CRA inquiries.
  • Administer benefits programs by enrolling and terminating employees, and act as main point of contact for employee questions.
  • Manage and administer employee leaves (STD, LTD, maternity / parental leave).

Equity Administration :

  • Manage equity administration process in ShareWorks by uploading new grants, adding and terminating employees, and producing reports.
  • Work with the Finance and Legal departments to manage quarterly processes and calculations.

HR Administration :

  • Assist with the annual compensation cycle by providing administrative support and assisting with salary surveys.
  • Draft employment verification letters for employees.
  • Assist with employee onboarding / offboarding.
  • Gathering data and support for the annual Management Information Circular.
  • Other HR administration tasks as requested.

What You Bring :

  • Minimum 5 years of Canadian payroll experience and some equity administration experience is required.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Payroll Compliance Manager certification.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is required, experience with ShareWorks is an asset.
  • Sound working knowledge of equity administration.
  • Knowledge of applicable Provincial and Federal employment and labor laws.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks; ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills when interacting with employees at all levels.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Work, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
