City Experiences is seeking a Payroll Coordinator for our City Cruises operation in Niagara Falls.

About The Opportunity

The Payroll Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Payroll & HR department at Toronto, Gananoque, and Niagara Falls locations. You will work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A strong problem solver, self-starter with attention to detail, eager to learn and grow within the company. Reports to the Regional Director, Human Resources.

Payroll

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provides payroll support to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist.
  2. Assists in maintaining the payroll system, Dayforce, and with biweekly payroll runs.
  3. Offers customer service to crew, answering questions, researching, and applying legislation.
  4. Prepares, verifies, and audits payroll reports, including overtime, discrepancies, and deductions.
  5. Maintains and supports payroll and HRIS users.
  6. Responds promptly to payroll inquiries with professionalism.
  7. Assists with year-end payroll procedures, T4 verification, and CRA remittances.
  8. Generates reports for Finance, HR, and third-party vendors using Dayforce.
  9. Prepares and submits Records of Employment (ROEs).
  10. Maintains accurate employee records in Dayforce and files.
  11. Ensures compliance with payroll processes, policies, and legislation.
  12. Responds to government inquiries regarding employees.
  13. Maintains payroll documentation for audits.
  14. Collaborates with HR on benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.

Human Resources

  1. Assists with talent acquisition, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding.
  2. Maintains crew records and files.
  3. Responds to HR inquiries and escalates when needed.
  4. Assists with crew recognition and community events.
  5. Supports HR department administration and special projects.
  6. Maintains knowledge of employment legislation.
  7. Supports a 7-day operation and adheres to health and safety regulations.
  8. Participates in safety measures and maintains professional appearance.
  9. Reports to work punctually and understands policies.
  10. Maintains necessary licenses and certifications.

Requirements & Qualifications

  1. University degree or college diploma in relevant fields.
  2. CHRP designation or working towards it is an asset.
  3. Minimum one year of HR or related experience.
  4. Experience supporting multiple sites preferred.
  5. Ability to travel between locations with reliable transportation.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  7. Attention to detail and organization skills.
  8. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  10. Strong collaboration skills.
  11. Excellent communication skills.
  12. Knowledge of HR trends, legislation, and technology.
  13. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 15 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
