Payroll Coordinator

We seek a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Coordinator to manage payroll for a dynamic mining workforce, including rotational schedules. The role ensures accurate, timely payroll processing, compliance with policies and standards, and collaboration with HR, Finance, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1: Ownership of payroll for Cote Gold

• Process and administer bi-weekly payroll, including earnings, deductions, and bonuses.
• Review payroll for accuracy before sign-off.
• Maintain employee data in the payroll system.
• Understand tax laws for accurate deductions and filings.
• Process adjustments and coordinate benefit deductions.
• Ensure employee hours are accurately tracked and approved.
• Assist with year-end reporting and audits.
• Support payroll system updates and troubleshoot issues.
• Be the first contact for payroll questions and discrepancies.
• Manage payroll input and review payroll registers.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and maintain timesheet software.

Area 2: Reporting and Reconciliations

• Monthly and year-end report processing.
• Tax remittance and WSIB clearance.
• Develop payroll audit methods.

Area 3: Other

• Communicate with government agencies.
• Liaise with managers on employee concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice to Haves

• College Diploma in Administration or related field.
• Canadian payroll certification.

Work experience - Minimum 5 years in payroll, preferably in an industrial setting with shift rotations. Knowledge of UKG and Nethris preferred. Strong understanding of payroll laws, employee benefits, and basic accounting. Proficiency with MS Office, attention to detail, confidentiality, and effective communication skills.
