Job summary

Impact HR in Canada is seeking a Full Time Permanent Payroll & HRIS Consultant based in Edmonton or Calgary. You’ll support clients with end-to-end payroll processing, HRIS implementation, and process improvements, gaining consulting experience across industries.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of payroll/HR/HRIS experience, strong Excel and reporting skills, and knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation. Travel across Alberta and occasionally across Canada is required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in Payroll, HR and/or HRIS.
  • Hands on experience with multiple payroll/HRIS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and Employment Standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, HR, or related field; PCP or CPHR designation considered an asset.
  • Flexible to work on-site with clients (10–15% travel across Alberta and occasionally across Canada).

Responsibilities

  • Payroll processing and compliance across client projects.
  • System implementation of payroll and HRIS systems, including data migration and training.
  • Process improvement for payroll/HRIS workflows and trouble-shooting.
  • Data management and reporting, including dashboards and audits.
  • Support compensation and benefits data within payroll systems.
  • Create SOPs and user guides; provide client training on payroll/HRIS best practices.
  • Contribute to HR initiatives and compliance projects.

Payroll & HRIS Consultant

We are looking to hire a Full Time Permanent Payroll & HRIS Consultant for our team. Reporting to the Senior Payroll and HRIS Consultant, this position can be based in Edmonton or Calgary, with flexibility to support clients across Alberta and Canada. You’ll gain valuable consulting experience across a wide variety of industries while supporting clients with payroll compliance, HRIS implementation, and process improvements.

This position is ideal for an HR or payroll professional with approximately 3-5 years of experience who enjoys balancing hands-on work with client-facing consulting.

What You’ll Do
  • Payroll Processing and Compliance: Support end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with federal and provincial legislation. Assist with financial audits and year-end processes.
  • System Implementation: Assist with the selection and implementation of payroll and HRIS systems, including data migration, testing, and client training.
  • Process Improvement: Review and improve payroll and HRIS workflows, helping clients increase efficiency. Provide troubleshooting, system optimization, and vendor liaison support as needed.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Manage and maintain accurate payroll and HRIS data. Support clients with conducting payroll/HRIS data audits, prepare custom reporting, and dashboard development.
  • Compensation and Benefits Support: Work alongside HR consultants to ensure payroll systems reflect compensation structures, salary grids, and benefits.
  • Training and Documentation: Develop and share SOP’s and user guides; provide training to client teams on payroll and HRIS best practices.
  • HR Project Work: Opportunities to contribute to HR initiatives, such as policy development, compensation and benefit reviews, training and development and HR compliance projects.
