Job summary

Default Brand is seeking a Benefits and Payroll Specialist (Contract) to manage payroll for roughly 500 hourly and salaried staff across two sites in Ontario. This role covers benefits administration, HRIS governance, and compliance with ESA and CRA remittances.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in payroll/benefits, experience with ADP or similar systems, and strong attention to detail. Travel between Whitby and Collingwood may be required on occasion.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in HR, business, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive payroll and/or benefits administration experience in Ontario.
• Solid knowledge of Ontario employment standards (ESA) and related regulations.
• Hands-on experience with Canadian payroll systems (ADP, Ceridian, Payworks, or similar).
• Experience with ROE processing and CRA remittances.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for ~500 employees across two sites.
• Administer group benefits programs and enrollments with carriers.
• Maintain HRIS data accuracy and support HR digital initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with ESA, WSIA, and privacy legislation.
• Prepare payroll and benefits reporting for leadership and finance.
