Job summary

The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is seeking a Payroll Administrator to support accurate and timely payroll processing and benefits coordination. The role involves managing payroll changes, maintaining records, and assisting with year-end activities.

  • Prepare payroll and benefits reports and maintain HRIS data.

What You Will Do:
  • Support the accurate and timely processing of payroll
  • Process payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation updates, leave, overtime, earnings, and deductions
  • Review payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain employee payroll records
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations, remittances, year-end reporting, and audit activities
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and provide support to employees and managers
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Support health and dental benefits, insurance, pension, retirement savings, and employee assistance programs
  • Respond to benefits inquiries and work with benefit providers to resolve issues
  • Ensure benefits deductions, employer contributions, and provider invoices are processed accurately
  • Prepare payroll, benefits, and employee-related reports and maintain data in payroll and HRIS systems
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities related to payroll and benefits
  • Prepare employee communications and resources related to payroll and benefits
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll and benefits processes and service delivery
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with legislative requirements and company policies
Who You Are:
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Payroll Administration, Human Resource Management, or a related field
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation, or working toward it, is an asset
  • Minimum two years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, benefits administration, and payroll compliance requirements
  • Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems such as Dayforce, ADP, Payworks, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations, and communities is considered an asset; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
