Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Nanaimo, BC, is seeking a payroll professional to process biweekly payroll for an assigned group across multiple sites, using a regional computer system.

Under general supervision, you will review time data, issue EI records of employment, and respond to payroll inquiries from staff, managers and external agencies such as CRA, HRDC, WCB and the Pension Commission. This temporary FT role has a planned start date of Oct 14, 2026 and end around Mar 31, 2027.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with payroll course and two years payroll experience or equivalent.
• Experience processing biweekly payroll in a multi-site environment preferred.
• Ability to operate a regional computer system.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll for an assigned group in a multi-site organization.
• Review and audit employee time data submitted for processing.
• Issue EI records of employment.
• Handle routine payroll inquiries from employees, managers and external agencies (CRA, HRDC, WCB, Pension Commission).

Job Description

Under general supervision, provides payroll services by processing bi-weekly payroll for an assigned group of employees in a multi-site organization, using a regional computer system. Reviews and audits employee time data submitted for processing. Issues EI records of employment. Handles routine payroll inquiries from employees, managers and external agencies such as Canada Custom & Revenue Agency, Human Resource Development Canada, WCB, and Pension Commission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Grade 12 successful completion of a recognized payroll course and two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
