Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Payroll Administrator, Hourly to join our Winnipeg or Edmonton office. You will process weekly and bi-weekly hourly payroll, handle new hires, changes, terminations, and year-end reporting, while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

This role interfaces with staff and management to resolve payroll inquiries and support internal audits. Ideal candidates have an undergraduate degree or diploma in Business/Accounting and at least two years of full payroll cycle

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Business, Accounting or equivalent.
  • 2+ years payroll experience processing the full payroll cycle.
  • PCP designation and in-house payroll system experience are an asset.
  • Proficiency with Excel and handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly hourly payroll.
  • Conduct pay calculations for new hires, changes and terminations.
  • Prepare various month end reports.
  • Liaise with staff and management on payroll related inquiries.
  • Prepare correspondence, summaries, and other payroll material.
  • Assist management with internal and external audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Prepare ROE using ROE Web.
  • Prepare and reconcile year-end reporting.
  • Perform payroll administrative tasks as required.

Job description

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Administrator, Hourly will be responsible for processing company payroll in a timely and accurate manner while in accordance with company and government policies.

This position is based in the Winnipeg or Edmonton office.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly hourly payroll.
  • Conduct pay calculations for new hires, changes and terminations.
  • Prepare various month end reports.
  • Liaise with staff and management on payroll related inquiries.
  • Prepare various correspondence, statistical summaries, and other material related to payroll function.
  • Assist management with internal and external audits.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Prepare Records of Employment (ROE) using ROE Web.
  • Prepare and reconcile year-end reporting.
  • Perform payroll administrative tasks as required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Business, Accounting or a combination of equivalent skills and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years payroll experience processing the full payroll cycle
  • PCP designation and experience using an in-house payroll system are an asset
  • Efficient with Excel, have data processing skills and can effectively deal with confidential information
  • Excellent communications skills, customer service oriented and a team player
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work and can consistently meet deadlines while ensuring high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
