Job description

Our client is a successful, reputable, stable, and well-established Canadian company. The company is looking for a new Payroll Administrator who will process a large payroll across Canada. This company has a values-based culture.

Who- the Company:

Large, reputable, and well-established company in the retail sector.

What- the Role:

On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Payroll Administrator.

This is a contract to start, but there is a permanent role available for which the contractor can be considered. Working alongside other Payroll Administrators. Together, the payroll team processes payroll for over 2000 employees across the country (almost all the Canadian provinces). Using a very well-configured payroll system that allows for well-automated payroll cycles. Also using plenty of Excel (for payroll analysis and payroll reporting) and an industry-specific software.

Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for candidates with around 2 to 5 years of payroll experience, as well as a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn new payroll skills.

  • Experience processing a payroll of at least 400 employees, and ideally over 800 employees
  • Experience with both salary and hourly payroll
  • Multi-provincial payroll experience is an asset- the more provinces, the better! That said, experience with BC payroll only is fine, the team can train the new Administrator on payroll for the other provinces.
  • PCP certification is preferred (already certified or actively pursuing)
  • Experience using a sophisticated payroll system such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, Ceridian, etc.
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to use Excel for payroll analysis and payroll reporting.
  • Exposure to US payroll is an asset, but not at all required. If the Administrator is interested in learning US payroll, they can be cross-trained! This company has a few US employees working in 5 US states.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, friendly, kind, and ethical.

Our client is a values-based company that seeks out employees who embody their culture of mutual respect, efficiency, honesty, and customer service.

How Much:

During the contract portion, the direct hourly rate will be in the ballpark of $32 to $40 an hour, depending on level of payroll experience, skills, and qualifications. Once the role is permanent, the base salary will likely be in the range of $55,000 to $70,000, plus benefits, vacation pay, and other perks. This company also offers great work/life balance. Please discuss your total compensation expectations further with Swim Recruiting!

Where:
