Job summary

Cologix in Toronto is seeking a Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team. You will review and process bi-weekly payroll for our U.S. and Canadian subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.

You will manage Dayforce payroll system, ROEs for Canada, and year-end filings, supporting the close process and ad hoc accounting tasks.

About the Position:

Cologix is seeking aPayroll Accounting Specialistto join our Accounting organization. This position will report to the Senior Operational Accounting Manager and will be responsible for reviewing and processing bi-weekly payroll for our U.S. and Canadian subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities include timecard review, payroll accounting and reconciliations, quarterly and annual compliance filings, and accounts payable activities related to benefits and payroll compliance. The role will also support year-end reporting, including W-2s, T4s, RL-1s, and vendor 1099s.

This position will also manage key Canadian payroll requirements, including filing Records of Employment (ROEs) and completing the annual vacation rollover and entitlement true-up in accordance with provincial requirements.

On non-payroll weeks, this position will provide ad hoc support to the Accounting team, as needed.

What you will do:

• Ensures a timely and accurate close process for areas of responsibility
• Primary owner of the Payroll inbox responsible for addressing employee inquiries
• Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Takes ownership in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and process improvements for areas of responsibility
• Learns established processes and seeks continual process improvement while handling daily work
