Job description

You are a safety-conscious Paver Operator with previous highway construction experience. You will operate CAT model pavers alongside our Highway Construction crew on various road building projects throughout Alberta. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections.
  2. Operate all functions and controls of the paver in coordination with the pickup machine safely, with an emphasis on workmanship.
  3. Work closely with the screed man and the rest of the crew to ensure paving operations keep moving in a timely and accurate manner.
  4. Ensure correct application of the asphalt from hopper to augers.
  5. Perform routine equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 years of previous experience operating pavers on highway construction sites.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol testing is mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract are required.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices in daily work activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Conditions:
  • This is a field-based position from May to November 2025.
  • Flexibility to work on projects throughout Alberta is required.
  • Shift rotations involve 10–14-hour workdays, including nights and overtime.
  • A living-out allowance of $140 per day is provided.
  • Preference is given to candidates with an RV or trailer, as a camp area with hookups is provided.
