Our DSB aims to ensure efficient service delivery, providing accessible and responsive programs tailored to our communities' diverse needs.

Our Team:

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board comprises 14 members and has been operational for 25 years. With three main departments—Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration—and over 200 employees, we serve a large area of 45,000 square km. We manage annual budgets exceeding $50 million and are committed to delivering effective, fair, and safe services to our residents.

The Opportunity:

We are currently hiring a Patient Transportation Attendant for our Non-Urgent Patient Transportation Service in Little Current. The role involves providing non-urgent transportation for in-patients between medical facilities, operating stretcher-capable vehicles, assisting with patient transfers, and documenting transfer details to evaluate service effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform safe two-person lifts and transfers of patients using appropriate equipment.
  • Maintain and record patient and operational documentation.
  • Ensure dignity and confidentiality of patients at all times.
  • Restock and clean vehicles and equipment regularly.
  • Complete checklists for vehicle readiness and sanitation.
  • Follow safety and infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene and PPE use.
  • Represent the DSB professionally and courteously.
  • Coordinate with the Paramedic Superintendent to optimize patient movements and report operational issues.
  • Complete incident and vehicle collision reports as needed.
  • Ensure vehicle supplies are stocked and maintained.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License, with the ability to obtain and maintain an F Class License.
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector; free of communicable diseases.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of technology systems (computers, tablets, internet, email).
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Wellness program including family members.
  • Career growth opportunities, inclusive work culture, and continuing education.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, providing employment accommodations as required under Ontario law. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, résumé, and completed Pre-Hire Package. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
