Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) seeks a Food Service Worker for the Patient Food Services team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. The role involves portioning and serving meals, assisting with food preparation, and delivering meals to patient units under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor.

Applicants should have a Food Safe Certificate Level 1 and be able to work in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 10+ with at least one year of related experience.
• Food Safe Certificate Level 1 is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Portion and serve meals to patients according to dietary plans.
• Assist with basic food prep and washing/peeling vegetables and fruit.
• Prepare coffee/tea, toast, desserts, sandwiches and salads as needed.
• Deliver wagons/trays to patient units and replenish items.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas; manage waste.
