Position Summary
The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has 12 site groups and 26 specialty clinics, and almost 3,000 staff who see over 400,000 patient visits every year. Its 800,000 square feet house 130 inpatient beds, 373,000 square feet of research space and 17 radiation treatment machines, making it one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world and the largest radiation treatment centre in Canada.
As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the site‑based patient care coordinator (PCC) acts as a resource and co‑leader for the interprofessional disease site team(s).
Duties
The PCC has clinical and leadership expertise. The principal responsibilities within the site(s) include:
Ensuring efficient day‑to‑day operations of clinical areas
Ongoing continuous improvement and project management practices to strengthen clinic processes
Performing financial and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective site operation
Contributing to staff development by promoting and ensuring a supportive and collaborative learning environment within the service(s)/cluster area based on the principles of adult learning and practice standards for nurses, students and ancillary staff
Performing human resources responsibilities in collaboration with the nurse manager
Liaising with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of patient care outcomes (including data collection and reporting)
Qualifications
At minimum, a completion of BScN Baccalaureate in Nursing or Baccalaureate level education with Diploma in Nursing required
Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing preferred
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program
Three (3) years nursing experience, including experience as required by area of responsibility and experience working in a supervisory capacity
Current certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
Demonstrates membership within a professional nursing association and/or nursing interest groups related to practice
Demonstrated strong leadership and motivational skills
Experience with project management and/or Lean process improvement an asset
Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Excellent skills in recognizing, analyzing and resolving problems
