Job summary

Nova Era Bakery Supply Inc. is seeking an experienced pastry chef to prepare cakes, cookies, pies, Portuguese tarts, and regional pastries at our Toronto shop.

The role includes creating new desserts to refresh the menu and attract customers, decorating with various icings and toppings, and maintaining high presentation standards. You will monitor ingredient supplies, ensure quality, guide pastry staff, and help recruit and train personnel while upholding health and safety requirements in a busy

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of pastry/bakery experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of goods following traditional Portuguese recipes (cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, regional cakes, Easter breads).
• Create new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage customers.
• Decorate pastries with icings and toppings for attractive presentation.
• Monitor stocks and place orders within budget.
• Check quality of materials and equipment quality.
• Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work efficiently.
• Identify staffing needs and assist recruitment and training.
• Maintain a lean, orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.

Job description

Wage: $27.00 per hour; 40 hours per week

Job Description:

• Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, Portuguese cream tarts, Portuguese regional cakes, Easter sweet breads etc. following traditional Portuguese recipes
• Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
• Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
• Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
• Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
• Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently
• Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
• Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
