Job description

Pastry Cook

We are seeking an experienced Pastry Cook who takes pride in delivering quality to our guests.

The Pastry Cook is responsible for supporting the culinary team in all aspects of desserts and baking. The primary duties include preparing high-quality pastries, cookies, breads, cakes, and desserts according to established guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and conducting oneself professionally. Assistance in other kitchen areas may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities include:
  • Following daily responsibilities based on schedule and business needs.
  • Preparing food for outlets, banquets, and other requirements.
  • Requisitioning ingredients from the storeroom.
  • Checking daily food requirements and preparing accordingly.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of refrigerators, freezers, work areas, and the kitchen.
  • Ensuring equipment is functioning, sanitized, and reporting maintenance issues.
  • Controlling waste and portions, maintaining food quality and cost using standard recipes and images, and managing inventory.
  • Handling guest requests professionally, offering alternatives when necessary.
  • Complying with departmental managers' requests.
  • Attending relevant meetings.
  • Performing cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing tables to ensure a sanitary workplace, as needed.
  • Assisting in other kitchen areas on occasion.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in pastry preparation, with a good understanding of fine dining.
  • Cooking Certificate or Diploma is an asset.
  • Creativity, organization, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure as part of a team.
