Job summary

Chinook Equipment in Pincher Creek is seeking an experienced Parts Technician to join our busy parts department. You will help customers source and order parts while gaining exposure to service operations by assisting our Service Manager with writing work orders for equipment repairs.

This role supports the team with accurate quotes, timely back-order updates and efficient parts handling, with emphasis on customer service, teamwork, and safety compliance in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Qualifications

• Experience sourcing and ordering parts for heavy equipment or automotive sectors.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in sourcing and ordering parts.
• Take orders by telephone, email, retail counter and for internal technicians.
• Provide accurate parts and freight quotes to customers.
• Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials.
• Maintain effective communication within the department and with other departments/individuals in the branch (status of back-ordered or special-order parts).
• Accurately process all customer transactions such as returns, orders, quotes.
• Assist the Service Manager in writing work orders for equipment repair.
• Assist in parts driving/pick up and yearly inventory counts.

What You’ll do as a Parts Technician:

• Assist all customers in sourcing and ordering parts in a friendly, professional and efficient manner
• Take orders for parts by telephone, email, retail counter and for our internal technicians
• Provide accurate parts and freight quotes to customers
• Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials
• Maintain effective communication within the department and with other departments/individuals in the branch (keeping them informed of the status of back-ordered or special-order parts to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs, etc.)
• Accurately process all customer transactions such as returns, orders, quotes
• Assist the Service Manager in writing work orders for equipment repair
• Assist in parts driving/pick up and yearly inventory counts

Skills and Experience:

• Parts counter experience in heavy equipment, automotive or working with a private/third party parts retailer
• Committed team player with the ability to work independently and as a team
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills including the ability to use tact, sensitivity, empathy and professionalism when interacting with customers and employees over the phone and in-person.
• Strong attention to detail with automotive/equipment systems aptitude and a demonstrated computer efficiency
• The ability to perform physical work which includes repetitive lifting of up to 50lbs
• Valid Drivers License
• Ability to provide a clear criminal record check
