Position : Parts Manager | Location:Milton, ON (401 & James Snow Parkway)

Overview: Seeking an experienced Parts Manager to join MTB’s team.

Position Summary:
The Parts and Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing, procurement, storage, and distribution of parts and inventory to ensure smooth and efficient operations across departments. This leadership role includes supervising parts staff, managing vendor relationships, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of parts for all projects and internal work.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement and Vendor Management

  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply chains.
  • Review and approve parts requisitions from team members and departments.
  • On complex projects, oversee and collaborate with technicians to assess and fulfill parts and supply requirements, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with multiple suppliers to secure competitive rates and delivery schedules.
  • Oversee purchase order processing using internal systems.
  • Use digital and printed parts manuals to accurately identify components required for projects.

Inventory Management

  • Lead inventory planning, forecasting, and control to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Monitor the allocation and usage of parts across all jobs, ensuring accountability and cost control.
  • Oversee the tracking and resolution of backorders, defective products, and supplier returns.
  • Ensure inventory is properly organized, labeled, and stored according to company standards.

Warehouse Operations

  • Supervise receiving, inspection, and documentation of incoming goods.
  • Oversee the loading/unloading, shelving, and racking of merchandise.
  • Ensure accurate inventory entry and maintenance in the inventory management system.
  • Coordinate efficient distribution of parts to shop floor and projects as required.

Leadership and Reporting

  • Lead, coach, and train parts team members.
  • Develop and present weekly performance reports on deliveries, stock issues, supplier delays, and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with shop managers and the senior leadership team to ensure seamless parts support for operations.
  • Establish and continuously improve standard operating procedures for the department.
  • Ensure parts team maintains a safe and clean work environment and adheres to all company policies and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in automotive/truck/bus parts management, including procurement and inventory control.
  • Previous leadership experience in a high SKU automotive parts distribution setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external suppliers.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage and analyze multiple data sets, create reports, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier negotiations, cost controls, and inventory optimization.
  • Strong attention to detail, process-driven mindset, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when operational needs require.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and standing/bending for extended periods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business-minded approach.
