Job summary

Buffalo Trail Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant for South Ferriby School in OB Colony, Alberta. This part-time role (5 hours daily, Monday to Friday) supports students with diverse needs in an inclusive classroom and under teacher guidance.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma in Childhood or Educational Assistant programs, has experience with special needs, and is comfortable with personal care and behavior support. Crisis intervention training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Childhood or Educational Assistant programs (preferred).
• Experience with individuals with special needs.
• Familiarity with language delays, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, motor delays.
• Training in SIVA or non-violent crisis intervention (asset).

Responsibilities

• Deliver educational instruction tailored to identified students, researching and organizing materials.
• Assist in student data collection, monitor progress, and provide observations to teachers.
• Modify materials to meet individual or group needs collaboratively.
• Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and life skills.
• Assist with integration into work/community environments.
• Provide personal care including hygiene and feeding as required.
• Work with multidisciplinary team and participate in training.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Advocate for students and share information with staff.
• Administer medication per procedures and follow safety guidelines.
