Job summary

Buffalo Trail Public Schools in Wainwright, Alberta, seeks an Educational Assistant to join Wainwright Elementary School. Start date is October 26, 2025, with an end date of June 28, 2026. The role is a 1.0 FTE, 6.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday, on site.

The successful candidate will support students with diverse needs, assist with personal care, and collaborate with teachers and the Inclusive Learning team to tailor instructional materials and interventions.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Childhood or Educational Assistant programs preferred.
• Experience with individuals with special needs preferred.
• Familiarity with language delays, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, and motor delays is advantageous.
• Ability to assist with personal hygiene and other care needs as required.
• SIVA or non-violent crisis intervention training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver educational instruction and materials tailored to identified students.
• Assist in data collection, monitor progress, and communicate observations to teachers.
• Modify materials to meet individual needs in collaboration with staff.
• Support development of academic, social, and life skills for student independence.
• Assist with integration and transitions within school or community settings.
• Attend to students’ personal needs, including feeding and hygiene.
• Collaborate with the team and participate in training and meetings.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Advocate for students and share relevant information with staff.
