Job summary

St. Thomas More School in Fairview, Alberta, requires a probationary, full-time Educational Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year, starting August 27, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

The Education Assistant will support teachers, work with individual students or groups, and help foster Indigenous cultural awareness and student wellbeing, with duties including assisting students with learning, health needs, and English Language Learners, under teacher supervision.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma required.
• Teacher Assistant Diploma or related education equivalent preferred.
• Able to perform duties with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Good communication and ability to follow plans to support individualized learning and accommodations.
• Ideal candidate will have proficiency in the use of technology.
• Criminal Record Check and Intervention check are required.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with learning, physical, and/or behavioral challenges, one-to-one, small group, and classroom duties.
• Duties may include attending to health needs and personal care.
• Support students in classroom, supporting academics and individualized learning needs, tutorial help, support for English Language Learners, and other Educational Assistant duties.
