Job summary

West Vancouver Schools is hiring an Education Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports students with diverse needs, under supervision, mainly in-class or learning support areas. 29.5 hours per week, salary starts at $33.15/hr at Step 1, with 16% in lieu of benefits.

Successful applicants will collaborate with teachers, LSTs, and parents to implement IEPs and ensure student safety. Some positions may require personal care and occasional driving.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 graduation completed.
• Post-secondary training such as a Special Education Assistant certificate or related courses.
• Recent experience and training supporting ABA programs.
• Posting may require specialized courses or skills as noted.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with parents, teachers and students with special needs.
• Ability to operate various types of equipment.
• Valid BC Driver's license and flexibility for various assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing adaptations and strategies per the student IEP.
• Work primarily in the classroom or learning support room under teacher direction.
• Maintain safety for students and staff; monitor behaviour as required.
• Provide personal care and assist with positioning for some students when needed.
• Support community services or transport as required; may drive to events.
