Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to assist in planning and delivering meaningful activities for residents in our Canadian long-term care setting. You will work with the Recreation Manager to organize events, outings and daily programs that enhance residents' quality of life.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation (or related field) and experience with seniors, plus strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of activities.
• Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and staff about events and programs.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on elder care trends.
• Facilitate residents' outings and assist with activity assessments.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities; assist with meals as required.
