Job summary

Qualicum School District is seeking a School Meals Worker at Springwood Elementary School on Vancouver Island. Position: 22.50 hours/week, 10 months/year, school days only, commencing as soon as possible.

You will prepare and distribute breakfast, lunch and snacks, follow nutrition guidelines and health regulations, and support students with a respectful, confidential service. Requires Grade 12, Food Safe certs, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (high school completion).
• Food Safe Level 1 and 2 Certification required.
• Two years related experience within the past five-year period.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute breakfasts, lunches and snacks for students.
• Follow nutrition guidelines and health regulations during service.
• Monitor student preferences and ensure menu alignment with local options.
• Sort and store unused portions according to health regulations.
• Assist with meal service, cleanup, and related tasks.
• Provide student supervision and communicate with staff as needed.
• Maintain participant records and distribute newsletters as required.
• Coordinate with helpers and runners to ensure timely service.
