Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) invites applications for the School Library Technician position at Fielding Drive PS. This 50% term assignment runs to December 31, 2026, with 17.5 hours per week (Mon-Tue full days, Wed 7:30-11am).

The role focuses on technical and public library services, cataloguing support, and materials management, within an English/French learning environment. Under the direction of the Principal, you will organize, circulate print and non-print materials,

Qualifications

• Diploma in Library and Information Technician, and 1 to 2 years of library experience.
• Understanding of Cataloguing and classification systems.
• Research skills required;
• Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets and databases).
• Experience operating and maintaining library software.
• Organizational skills required to schedule classes/small groups and prioritize concurrent tasks and deadlines.
• Interpersonal and communication skills required, including writing communication skills.
• The ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with staff, students, parents/volunteers.
• The ability to work in both English and French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and public library services and organize materials.
• Assist with cataloguing, circulation, reference services and unit study materials.
• Support public relations, clerical duties and supervise activities.
