Job summary

Ottawa Safety Council in Toronto is seeking part-time Crossing Guards to help children cross streets safely during school start and end times. Shifts range from 1h5m to 2h30m, Monday to Friday.

You will escort pedestrians, communicate rules, report unsafe conditions, and work with the school community to keep students safe in all weather. Training provided, and reimbursement for PRC after interview.

Qualifications

• Recent Vulnerable Sector PRC required after interview (costs reimbursed).

Responsibilities

• Direct and escort pedestrians across the street, stopping traffic as necessary.
• Communicate traffic rules to students and adults.
• Report unsafe student behaviour to school officials.
• Inspect your intersection daily and report any unsafe conditions.
• Monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps for crossing; create gaps when needed.
• Be aware of emergency vehicles and ensure they have priority.
