Job summary

YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking an Assistant Teacher - School Age Float for after-school programs across Coldwater, Elmvale, Midhurst, Shanty Bay and Barrie areas. The role is part-time (25 hours/week) with split shifts before and after school on instructional days.

You will support children, plan activities, and work with families and staff to create a safe, inclusive environment. Availability Sept 2026 start; valid first aid/CPR and Vulnerable Sector Check required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; travel between sites may be required.
• Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) or completion within 90 days.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Immunizations up-to-date as per local health requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children, including toileting/diaper changes and first aid as needed.
• Supervise groups of up to 15 children, ensuring safety and engagement at all times.
• Plan and implement play-based learning aligned with YMCA Curriculum.
• Maintain professional communication with families, staff and volunteers.
• Foster an inclusive environment supporting diverse needs and behaviours.
• Adhere to schedules and maintain ratio; notify supervisor of changes.
