Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to deliver planned nursing care to residents in our retirement residences across Ontario. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, update care plans, and ensure accurate documentation while mentoring unregulated care providers.

Ideal candidates are registered RPNs with gerontology experience, strong communication skills, and a caring, resident-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team with continuous communication.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and make changes as required.
• Complete and ensure residents' clinical care assessments, plans and documentation are accurate.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers with coaching & mentorship.
• Contribute to high-quality resident care and safety.

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
