Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Newmarket, Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide patient-centered nursing care to our residents in a senior living environment.

You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, implement care plans, and contribute to high-quality resident care while maintaining documentation and clinical standards.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/long-term care an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team with effective communication.
• Implement and evaluate care plans; adjust as required.
• Complete and ensure accurate resident assessments, care plans and documentation.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers with coaching & mentorship.

How YOU make a difference

• RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
• RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.
• RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.
• RPNs complete and ensure resident's clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
