Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Ottawa seeks Registered Practical Nurses to deliver planned patient-oriented nursing care within a multi-disciplinary team. You will assess residents, implement care plans, and document changes with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care.

Eligible candidates bring current RPN registration, strong clinical knowledge, teamwork and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office. BLS/First Aid and a current vulnerable sector check are required.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an RPN in the applicable province.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Responsibilities

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.
