Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Newmarket, Ontario is seeking Registered Practical Nurses to provide planned, patient-centered care to residents in our retirement residences. You will join a compassionate team dedicated to the happiness and well-being of our residents.

As an RPN, you will implement care plans, perform assessments, document findings, and mentor unregulated care providers within a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/long-term care asset.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, time management and teamwork.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation skills.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Vulnerable Sector Check within six months or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Be part of a multidisciplinary team with ongoing communication.
• Implement and evaluate care plans; adjust as required.
• Complete resident clinical assessments, care plans and documentation; communicate changes.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers with coaching and mentorship.

• RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
