Job summary

Port Hope Municipality is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Services Representative to join the friendly public-facing team. You will handle front-line inquiries by phone, email, and in person, assist with registrations, and ensure smooth program setup and cleanup.

You will balance cash, use POS systems, and maintain a welcoming desk while following health and safety standards. The role requires flexible days, evenings, and weekend shifts at the municipal facilities.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma preferred.
• Proficiency in computer software applications; knowledge of ActiveNet recreation software an asset.
• Standard First Aid, CPR “C”.
• Cash handling and POS experience preferred.
• Willingness to obtain HIGH FIVE ®: Principles of Healthy Child Development and Principles of Healthy Aging.
• Strong organization and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve issues professionally and courteously.
• Verbal and written communication skills including courtesy and tact.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive, professional image to the public and promote the mandate of Parks, Recreation and Culture by responding to customer inquiries (in person, telephone, by email) promptly and clearly.
• Maintain a presence at the customer service desk and complete setup/cleanup or oversee program activities.
• Handle admissions and registrations cash handling; balance cash and record sales.
• Support programs, events and rentals with administration and planning tasks.
• Monitor participant safety and ensure adherence to facility rules and policies.
• Open/close recreation facilities and ensure buildings are secure.
• Respond to emergencies and perform first aid as needed.
