Job summary

Continuing Education at Conestoga College is seeking a Recreation Attendant to oversee recreational programs and facilities during peak student engagement hours at the Doon campus in Kitchener. This temporary, part-time role involves supervising student staff, coordinating setup, and ensuring safe, welcoming environments for students, employees, and community members.

Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays, up to 16 hours, 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with schedule changes possible.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Facility Management, Recreation and Business, Fitness and Health Promotion, Sport Management, or a related field is required.
• Minimum one year of practical experience in a similar recreational or customer service environment is required.
• Knowledge of recreation and sport equipment, including proper setup, maintenance, and safety requirements.
• Ability to monitor facility conditions, identify maintenance or safety concerns, and take appropriate action or escalation as required.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, particularly in maintaining cleanliness standards, completing inspections, and tracking inventories.
• Demonstrated experience supporting recreational programming, events, or facility operations, including equipment setup and tear-down.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recreation programming and facilities during peak student engagement hours.
• Supervise part-time recreation and facility student staff.
• Assist coaches and varsity personnel with equipment and setup needs.
• Perform routine facility cleaning and maintenance per supervisor guidance.
• Complete work orders and assist with seasonal maintenance and snow removal as needed.
• Provide backup to front-of-house services and support programming as required.
