What You Will Get To Do

By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community. Reporting to the Supervisor, of Recreation & Community Programs, the Ice Patrol staff are responsible for the safety of the participants during Public Skating sessions Duties include:

  • Greeting patrons in a welcoming and friendly manner
  • Demonstrate and encourage safe etiquette by monitoring and controlling the flow and speed of skaters
  • Verify that all participants have proper admission
  • Enforcing rules and regulations including capacity limits, with an emphasis on the safety of the patrons
  • Providing minor assistance to patrons, providing minor first aid as required, complete accurate documentation for all accidents and incidents
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adhere to the Town and facility service standards and policies
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment at all times, including skates, a CSA-approved helmet
  • Assist with set‑up and take‑down of skating aids and equipment
  • Move nets and support arena operators during games or events
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What You Bring To Our Team As the successful applicant, you must possess:
  • a minimum Grade 10 education
  • current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED (Level C) and;
  • Proficient skating abilities with a solid understanding of safe on‑ice practices must be able to communicate orally in a clear and concise manner; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public; Ability to stand/skate for extended periods of time in a cold environment. possess well‑developed interpersonal and public relations skills; able to exercise discretion, judgement and diplomacy; and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening prior to employment start date.
What We Offer You

Salary Range/Hourly rate: $19.50 - $21.65
