Job Description

The receptionist/clerk serves as the front-line contact, providing accessible, friendly, and efficient customer service for students and staff. Responsibilities include handling phone calls related to medical appointments, relaying messages, managing medical test results and reports, updating demographics, assisting with patient registration and consent, updating charts, faxing, managing referrals, ordering supplies, and supporting departmental statistics and surveys.

Required Qualifications
  • Two (2) year diploma or equivalent, preferably in Medical Office Administration. Equivalent education and work experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a high-demand medical office setting.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Adobe, Microsoft Suite, and Outlook Email; familiarity with Electronic Medical Record software such as PS Suite is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours if required.
  • Experience creating Custom Forms in PS Suite is an asset.
  • Experience with Ocean technologies by Cognizant MD is an asset.
Schedule
  • Tuesday to Friday: 10:15am-4:45pm (24 hours per week)

This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College's Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
