Job Description
- Salary range is posted for professor position. Instructor salary will differ. Hourly rates are established in terms of relevant educational qualifications and experience.
We’re excited to announce that we are currently building a candidate pool for upcoming Part-Time Professors/Instructors – Early Childhood Education Program within our School of Wellness, Public Safety and Community Studies department. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chair, Community Studies, Part-Time Professors are responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students. The professional responsibilities include the teaching of assigned courses, plus:
- delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall or Winter terms.
- providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies and the College approved Learning Management System.
- evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses.
- the development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study. For instructor positions a diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field of study is required:
- Up to date registration with the College of ECE, www.college-ece.ca:
- Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting:
- Minimum three (3) years direct work experience with individuals in child and early learning settings;
- Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset;
- Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document: http://www.algonquincollege.com/employee-pd/documents/prof-21-expanded.pdf;
- Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners;
- Have flexibility to teach during the day and evenings from Monday to Friday.
