Position Summary
Part-Time Academic, new position

As a part-time Professor, you will develop and deliver curriculum using various engaging and innovative methods, playing a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence through sound teaching practice.
The School of Health & Life Sciences is currently seeking a qualified professional to teach DIET2170 – Menu Development in the Nutrition and Food Service Management program starting fall 2025. This course explores menu management across diverse environments, with an emphasis on healthcare settings and uses MealSuite within the curriculum.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with these courses being delivered in-person at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Drive, Kitchener. Part-time Professors typically teach one to two courses. Courses are approximately three to six hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term.

Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, practical instruction in DIET2170 using real-world scenarios and case studies
- Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
- Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
- Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
- Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
- Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian or Nutrition Manager
- Membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management is required
- Minimum three years of experience in a healthcare or institutional food service environment
- Proficiency in MealSuite software is required, with demonstrated ability to teach or train others on the platform
- Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
- Experience with curriculum development is an asset
- Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset
- Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
