The Department of Risk and Insurance at the Wisconsin School of Business invites applications at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, Full Professors) for a position starting August 18, 2025.
This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE)-Artificial Intelligence (AI) cluster hire initiative (https://rise.wisc.edu/rise-ai/). The candidate's tenure home will be in the Risk and Insurance department at the Wisconsin School of Business, and the candidate will participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges. We seek a thought leader who expands our expertise on the role of AI, with applications to risk and insurance. Potential research areas include AI regulation and ethics, Insure-tech and evolving risk and insurance business models leveraging AI, and advances in actuarial techniques using AI and related technologies.
The Risk and Insurance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is among the oldest in the country, dating back to the 1930s. Our faculty come from diverse fields such as economics, risk management, actuarial science, and statistics. We offer undergraduate majors in actuarial science and risk management and insurance, ranked among the best globally, as well as a PhD in Insurance Economics & Actuarial Analytics and a Capstone Certificate in Actuarial Science. Our faculty also contribute to the school's business analytics programs, including the MS in Business Analytics, online MS in Data, Insights, and Analytics, and MBA programs. We collaborate extensively across campus with departments like economics, engineering, public policy, health, and statistics.
